March 26
Decatur County Deputy Mock was dispatched to Spring Creek Road to assist a Seminole County Deputy with a subject that had been involved in a hit and run accident in Seminole County earlier. Deputy Mock was briefed by Deputy Henry. He told Mock that the suspect, Herrik Prickett, admitted that he was involved in the accident. When Deputy Henry asked Prickett as to the contents of Pricketts vehicle he stated that he had an unknown quanity of Suda-fed tablets in it and consented to a search of his vehicle. Investigator Jeter was notified and processed the scene. 208 tablets were found.
Update: Investigator Jeter also found a plastic spoon with white residue on it thought to be methamphetamin. He conducted a field test on the residue and it tested positive for methamphetamine. Prickett was read his Miranda rights and waived them. Investigator Jeter spoke with Pricketts regarding the items found in his vehicle. Prickett stated that he bought the pseudoephedrine pills and was taking them to someone else to manufacture methamphetamine. Prickett was escorted to the Decatur County Jail.
A CD player was the apparent reason for an aggravated assault and affray. Decatur County Deputy Singleton responded to the residence on Fluitt Road in Fowlstown. When Deputy Singleton arrived he was met by the victim/complainant, Dennis Harris. Harris stated that 4 males had jumped him hitting him with beer bottles, a 2x4 and a tire iron. EMS was dispatched to treat his injuries. While Deputy Singleton was speaking with Harris a call was dispatched to the ER in reference to a stabbing. It was discovered that 3 of the 4 males that Harris identified as jumping him were at the hospital with stab wounds. Harris later admitted to Deputy Singleton that he had used the knife to protect himself. The scene on Fluitt Road was turned over to Investigator Jeter and Deputy Singleton went to the ER. According to their story, one of the men, Derrick Jenkins was approached by Harris about a CD player. Jenkins then went left and got three friends and returned. Jenkins and the others stated that when they stepped out of the vehicle Harris came at them with a knife. During the tussle, 3 of them were cut.
Update: Investigator Jeter gathered the 2x4, tire iron and beer bottles. He took a blood sample from the side of the residence. He then went to the ER and spoke with all parties involved, and took pictures of their wounds. All parties were unwilling to prosecute and signed DESO Waiver of Prosecution forms. Case closed.
March 24
Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Boyett responded to Palmetto Street in reference to an assault call and EMS were also dispatched. On his arrival he was handed a The center of the problem was reported a cell phone. The two people involved in the assault appearently have a child together and the father was there to see the baby. The mother stated that the father was at her residence. The call was made a short time after midnight. The mother, Sheree Thomas, stated to Officer that she asked the father, John Faison, was he was going to leave. Faison told her that he was going to take a nap and she told him no and again to leave. According to her, the father then grabbed her cell phone and he tried to leave with the phone. They then starting arguing and she locked the front door to keep him there. Thomas stated that Faison held her down while he tried to go through the phone. Thomas stated that Faison again tried to leave with her phone and she grabbed a knife. Apparently she dropped the knife and when she picked it up she began swinging it and struck Faison. Faison was sitting on a couch when Officer Boyett arrived. He was taken to the ER where Officer Boyett later interviewed him. Faison did not want to press charges and signed a statement of refusal. Where was the baby?
March 23
A box of frozen lasagna was the down fall of Lashonda Shuler and Rabbia Gordon. Bainbridge Public Safety Major Landrum responded to CVS in regard to the shoplifting call. He met with the manager and witness, Jerry Cameron, who stated that he saw the two women place an item out of the frozen food class and put in the purse that one of the women was carrying. Major Lamdrum asked Mrs. Shuler if he could look in the purse and she granted him permission. Inside was the box of lasagna. Both women were booked and bonded out.
March 20
Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Carr saw a vehicle with no tag visible pull into a driveway on Butler Ferry Road. Officer Carr circled the block and saw the same vehicle travel down a path into a wooded area. Officer Carr pulled his patrol car in behind the vehicle and approached the driver. The driver, later identified as Hubert Calloway, was asked by the officer why he was in this area. Calloway stated that he and his girl friend were talking. Officer Carr then asked Calloway if he had a tag on his vehicle and Calloway stated no. Calloway was then asked for a bill of sale which he produced with a purchase date of 1/28/06. Calloway was also asked for proof of insurance which he stated he did not have. When Officer Carr asked Calloway for his license he stated that he had left them at home. Officer Carr asked Calloway for his drivers license number and Calloway stated that it was the same as his social security number. Officer Carr then had 911 run that number and nothing came back. Officer Carr then had 911 run through with name and date of birth but again nothing came back. Officer Carr then had Station One run his name and date of birth and a different social security number came back. Officer Carr then had 911 run that social security number and it came back to Hubert Calloway who is not licensed. Calloway was arrested and his car towed. He was charged with no insurance, driving without a license, operating a vehicle without tag.
Just after school let out a large of youth gathered by the school annex and then moved to the area of Nic's on Shotwell Street. Several Bainbridge Public Safety units responded. Some of the group started to run. Sgt. Wimberley spotted 2 of the malesfighting and what looked like several people trying to break it up. Major Landrum and Sgt. Wimberley both exited their vehicles and pushed through the crowd to the 2 males that were still fighting. Warner Fryer and Reginald West were then both taken into custody and charged with Affray. Captain Humphrey was also on scene. As the crowd began moving away Cpt. Humphrey observed a male lying on the ground and approached him. The man was bleeding from the head in numerous place and appeared to be disoriented. The victim was escorted to a SUV by some of the other bystanders. At first the victim refused EMS but then requested them. He was transported to the ER where Cpt. Humphreysasked him what had happened. The man stated that he was helping his cousin, Reginald West and didn't know who had hit him.
Sgt. Wimberley was dispatched to Suds and Scrubs. He met with the complainant there who stated that she had been washing her car and when she pulled off she noticed a small black bag laying near the vacuum cleaners. Thinking that someone may have left a purse, she opened it to see if there was any identification in it. When she opened the bag there was a gun inside and that's when she called 911. Sgt. Wimberley opened the bag and found a small black automatic pistol. The pistol was a Lorcin model L380. He also found a magazine and extra ammo in it. When Sgt. Wimberley had the serial number run through GCIC it came back with no information on file. The bag and contents were turned over to Investigator Dollar.
March 18
Responding to a domestic violence call at Harvest Homes Apartments, Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Knight spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle the suspect had left in. Officer Knight initiated a traffic stop. As Officer Knight was interviewing the suspect, identified as Johnny James Olds, Jr., he was given information that Olds had been drinking. Olds stated that he had been drinking and then Officer Knight asked him if he would submit to an Intoxilyzer chemical test. To this request Olds stated "no". He was then arrested for DUI and taken to Decatur County Jail were he was tested. Olds was citied for DUI, booked and released on bail.
Deputy Beltran was traveling on Highway 309 in the early morning hours. A vehicle that was in front of him turned into a driveway but close to the roadway. Deputy Beltran continued on the road but turned his vehicle around about half a mile down to return and check on the stopped vehile. Deputy Beltran activated his emergency lights and the vehicle that was once stopped went further and further in the driveway. When the vehicle finally stopped Deputy Beltran approached the vehicle and asked the driver to step to the rear of his vehicle. As the driver, later identified as Terrence T. Hines, was walking to the rear of the vehicle he stated to Deputy Beltran that his license were suspended. Mr. Hines also stated to the deputy that the reason he was parked in the driveway was that he was trying to avoid a roadblock further up the road. Deputy Beltran noticed that Hines' eyes were red and bloodshot and that he had a strong odor of alcohol on his person. Deputy Beltran also observed a beer bottle on the floor of Hines vehicle and when he was asked Hines stated that it was his and that he had also consumed two 22 oz. cans of beer and the beer from the bottle that was in the vehicle. After submitting to a roadside ALCO sensor test and testing positive, Hines was arrested for DUI, driving while license suspended and open container.
Port City Church of God was the scene of a buglary. Decatur County Sheriff Deputy Black responded to the call. One of the cathedral stain glass windows was broken out and a collection jar for the women's ministries was found empty. The jar was thought to contain about $100.00. Deputy Black observed pry marks on the back cathedral door and coins lying on the floor inside the back door. Also left by the intruder was some drops of blood and possible finger prints along with tire marks that went from behind the church to the dirt road directly behind the church. Investigators were called and took control of the scene for processing.
March 17
Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Cox responded to an assualt call on Cooper Street. The victim stated that a male had come to her residence intoxicated and asking for money. When the victim wouldn't give him the money the man became irrate and attacked her. She stated that he hit her in the face with a closed fist. The result was that the victim had a bloody nose. She alsoo wanted the incident reported but according to Officer Cox showed no interest in pursuing criminal charges. The offender had left the scene before Officer Cox arrived.
Giving false information to police is against the law. Giving false information by using someone elses name that is already wanted really can be a big mistake. Decatur County Sheriff Deputies Moorhead and Logue stopped a vehicle in Attapulgas that they thought might be in violation of the Georgia tint law. When Deputy Moorhead asked the driver for his license he stated to the Deputy that he didn't have his license on him. The suspect then gave him a name and date of birth that Deputy Moorhead had 911 run through GCIC. Deputy Moorhead and 911 tried running the name through several times with different spelling. Meanwhile, Deputy Black heard the transmition and notified Deputies Moorhead and Logue that he had a warrant for a subject with that name. Deputy Moorhead then placed handcuffs on the man pending further investigation of the name as the date of birth wasn't the same. Deputy Logue then deployed Bear (K 9) for the purpose of detecting narcotics. Bear alerted at the passengers door of the vehicle. Deputy Logue then located suspected marijuana on the passengers side floor inside a clear plastic bag and a partial suspected marijuana cigarette butt that was in the vehicles ash tray. After the suspected marijuana was found the suspect identified himself by his real name, Michael Jermaine Lee. Mr. Lee was taken to Decatur County jail where suspected marijuana was found by Detention Officer Arlene Jackson in Mr. Lee's personal belongings. Lee was charged with driving while unlicensed, possession of marijuana and providing false information to law enforcement. The evidence was logged into custody and the turned over to Investigator Bedwell for review.
March 16
When a woman noticed some of her jewelry missing, she suspected that a nephew had taken the items. Not wanting to cause trouble in the family and because she couldn't prove that he had taken the items, she didn't report it to police. On March 16th she went with a niece to a local pawn shop to retreive some property. While there she spotted 2 rings that were among the missing jewelry and asked if her nephew had pawned the items and according to the shops records the items were pawned by him. Unfortunately for the woman several of the missing pieces had already been sold. Decatur County Sheriff Deputy Martin responded to the call and he then turned the case over to investigator Bedwell.
March 12
Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Boyett responded to a call at Subway in Wal Mart. According to witnesses, the incident began in the parking lot. The victim stated that her ex-husband, whom she had a restraining order on, drove up beside the vehicle she was in in the parking lot. The victim was accompanied by her daughter, another female and a male. She stated that she advised the male to go into the store as she didn't want her ex and him to fight. She started walking into the store and her ex-husband grabbed her by the arm. She pulled away and at the entrance to Subway the ex-husband began verbally assualting the male and stated that he would find him later and kill him. The ex-husband then grabbed the daughter from her and she allowed him to hold her hoping it would calm the ex-husband down. The arguing continued and one of the witnesses called police. The other male had left the scene before police arrived.
You never know what you may find laying on the ground. Officer Pittman of the Decatur County Jail turned over what she found beside the trash can on front of the Sheriffs Office front door to Deputy Singleton. It appeared to be a cigarette, a cigar and a small bag of marijuana. The found items were sealed and placed in an evidence locker and turned over to investigations.
Decatur County Sheriff Deputy McMillan was dispatched to a Dothan Road business in reference to damage to property and burglary. The complainant stated that when he entered into his office he saw that a large double pane window was broken. The complainant also stated that it didn't appear that anything was missing from his office but there was beer missing from a refrigerator. Outside of the rear door there was a 5 gallon bucket that was fulled with 12 bottles of beer taken from the refrigerator. The complainant believes that the suspect may have been surprised by someone. Deputy McMillan contacted Investigator Walton who requested that the evidence be collected and taken to the Sheriffs Office. Deputy McMillan gathered the evidence including some broken bottles and they were turned over to Investigator Walton.
March 11
A residence on Cooper Street was where Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Godwin responded to a domestic call. The father lives at this residence with the son. The man stated that whenever the mother gets intoxicated she tries to gain entry to the house. This time shebroke a window. He also stated that they had been arguing and that she had hit him in the face with a bottle. Officer Godwin noticed that his cheek was swollen and he had blood on his arms. Officer Godwin then spoke with the mother. She had a laceration on the left side of her head and blood stains on her shirt. While Officer Godwin was trying to speak with them the mother left the scene.
A resident of Clarke Street was on his porch when he heard a loud crashing sound and went to investigate. He stated to Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Godwin that he saw 3 males get into a pickup truck and take off in a hurry. Sgt. Thomas arrived on scene and the officers made entry into the business. Upon entering they saw a large piece of cinder block that had been used to break out a window. The owner of the business arrived and didn't notice anything missing.
March 10
As an Ashley Street resident went to get into her vehicle to go to work she saw that a window was broken out on the passengers side. Decatur County Sheriff Deputy Mock was dispatched. She stated to the officer that her purse had been left in the vehicle and was now missing.
Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Carter was dispatched to Briarwood Apartments. Sgt. Thomas and Officer Hurst also arrived on scene where they spoke with the complainant who was the manager. She stated that she wanted the parking lot cleared. Everyone left with the exception of Timothy Carlyle. Even though he had been asked to leave several times he wouldn't leave and continued to speak back to the officers. Carlyle was also advised that if he didn't leave he would be placed under arrest for obstruction. As Officer Carter reached for his handcuffs, Carlyle pulled away and ran. The officers hollered for him to stop and Carlyle fell and began running again. At this point he was tasered by Sgt. Thomas. Carlyle was handcuffed and an ambulbance called to check his wounds. After being checked by EMS it was determinded that Carlyle was okay and he was transported to Public Safety and booked for reisisting and interfering with the duties of an officer.
March 9
Decatur County Sheriff Officer Williams responded to a burglary call on Hidden Springs Road. The complainant stated that a Briggs and Stratton generator, red frame with black gas tank, was taken from his property. The generator had 2 flat tires on it and was taken from his carport. The generator is valued at $800.
March 8
Apparently someone used a board to break the driver's side window. According the the complainant, missing from the pickup was a car stereo. Decatur County Sheriff Deputy Singleton responded to the call. Deputy Singleton then contacted Investigator Walton and advised him of the situation. Both Investigator Walton and Bedwell arrived on scene and the case was turned over to them for further investigation.
March 7
An employee of the library returned to the library following a meeting when she saw children alone in a parked vehicle in the library parking lot. She called 911 and Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Harrison responded. The employee went into the library while Officer Harrison stayed with the children and also notified Department of Family and Children Services. The mother arrived to the vehicle where she stated that she had only left the children for a short time while she checked something on the internet. Officer Harrison advised her that he had contacted DFCS. A representitive from DFCS arrived and the case was turned over to them.
A six month old blue razor pitbull named Jasmine worth about $850.00 was reported missing to Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Harrell who was dispatched to the call. The owner, who lives on Zorn Road, stated that he had let the dog outside and a few minutes later couldn't find it. He checked with the neighbors and they stated that they hadn't seen anything.
Johnny Becan was arrested for obstruction of police/resisting arrest after he ran from Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Henley. The call was in reference to a domestic on East College Street. When Officer Henley arrived the male took off running and Officer Henley was not far behind. When the suspect ran through some bushed and landed on the ground the officer placed him under arrest and handcuffed him. The suspect was placed in Officer Henley's vehicle and Officer Henley returned to the location of the female complainant. The complainant stated that she and the suspect had been arguing and he hit her in the mouth. She also stated that he had done this previously but that she had never pressed charges against him.
March 4
While patroling Highway 27 south Decatur County Sheriff Deputy Moorhead noticed that both the driver and passenger in a vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts. He made the traffic stop and explained the reason for the stop to both of them and asked the to step out of their vehicle and Deputy Moorhead gave them written warning for the violation. Deputy Logue also responded to the location and deployed Bear (K-9) for the purpose of detecting narcotics on the vehicle. Bear had a positive alert on the vehicle. The driver consented to a search of his vehicle and Deputy located a cigar that had been gutted on the driver's seat. Deputy Logue then asked the subjects if they had any marijuana on them. The deputies then extended the probable cause search to their person. Deputy Moorhead then found a pair of metal knuckles, concealed, the the passenger's jacket pocket and Jacob Harrison was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
March 3
James Weatherford from one residence to another and was promised the return of his deposit from Georgia Power. Mr. Weatherford then went to the Georgia Power office to see what the problem. Georgia Power advised Mr. Weatherford that his check had been sent to him at his prior address on August 2, 2005. Mr Weather then asked for a copy of the cancealed check. He contacted Bainbridge Public Safety and Cpl. Pollock was dispatched. When Cpl. Pollock arrived on scene Mr. Weatherford showed him the check with his name forged and a false social security number. The check had been cashed at Port One Liquor.
March 2
A little after 11:00 pm Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Carr responded to a call in reference to an intoxicated female that stated that someone had hit her. Sgt. Henley was with Officer when they made contact with the female on 3rd Street. The complainant appeared to be very intoxicated and she gave the name of a resident of 4th Street as the offender. The officers when with her to the house as she didn't know the address. She stated to the officers that she had gone to the residence to speak with the offenders wife. He had told her that his wife wasn't home and told her to leave. The complainant said that the offender had hit her several times with something. They arrived at the residence and Officer Carr spoke with him. According to him the complainant and her boyfriend had come to his house and while there poured something on his floor, he told them to leave. He also stated that he had not hit her. He also stated that the complainant was on his front porch drinking with someone by the name of 'Flintstone' and that she left with him.
March 1
Harrassment was the call that Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Harrell responded to on Miluli Avenue. The three complainants stated that they have been getting calls from a couple. One of the calls the couple reportedly asked to come over the other there were threats made. One of the residents stated that she is so scared she couldn't even go to the Post Office.
A trailer that came unhitched caused quite alot of damage and work for Georgia Power and the City of Bainbridge on Albany Road. The trailer first struck a ditch wall and in the ditch was an exposed water line. The water line broke. The trailer continued down the ditch and then struck a utility pole and broke that in half. After the pole broke, part of it fell and damaged a fence at a residence. Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Wimberley had responded to the call as well as city crews and Georgia Power. Officer Wimberley gave the driver, Jose Aranda a traffic citation for having an unsecured load.
It's hard to be sneaky, you always get caught. Deigo Acuna had been parked for about 30 minutes on Green Street. A nearby resident had noticed the van and called in a suspicious vehicle complete with tag number. Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Henley responded to the address and the van was spotted on Simms Street and stopped by Deputy Martin. Mr. Acuna was asked for his drivers license and he stated that he had a Mexico drivers license and they were at home. He also stated that the reason he was parked on Green Street was that he was waiting for his girlfriend. It was learned that the girlfriend had snuck out of her window.
