HA I love it! I can wait to hear the follow ups to this meeting! I for one would love to see this passed!! My grandmother, God Rest her soul, threatened 15 years or so ago when this first started wearing them like this,my brother and male cousins who “tried” to dress like this for a minute, that she would begin to wear her pants down like that out in public.

Meth Bust In Lake Douglas

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 5:13 am

ti39819 writes

It’s sad that you can’t even rent a house out anymore without people making meth in the garage. Come on you have kids in the freaking house, and meth being cooked in the garage! What kind of parent are you! This is an embarrassment to our town!

What is leadership doing?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:09 pm

mike writes

I recently read our unemployment rate is 8.5%, largest in South Georgia, if not the entire state. What is our city and county leaders doing to create new jobs for the citizens?
This post isn’t meant to be negative, but clearly inquisitive. Are we proactive in recruitment of industrial and manufacturing companies to take a look at the industrial park vacancies? Are we redirecting spending of tax dollars from projects that can wait so that our full attention is on this very important issue?

Groceries carts (buggies)

Category: General Comments, Uncategorized — Larry @ 4:18 pm

jarrod2002 writes

Bainbridge has a big problem with people taking groceries carts home, it looks pertty bad to when i go to the store and i don’t have a cart to shop with because they are all in the street and its bad when i see kids riding and playing in the carts and getting hurt when the carts tip over. Someone is going to get sued if a child gets hurt badly.

A Positive Approach to Problems

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 4:12 am

If anyone hasn’t been paying attention, Decatur County Family Connection has continued to grow and spread its positive influence in more and more ways in our community. The approach is to work on the root of problems and through community partners providing a myriad of programs and projects including
Teen abstinence speakers
Child Abuse Prevention seminar
Hunger Prevention with the kids backpack program, food bank
Providing School Supplies
Helping with the mentoring program
Helping citizens prepare their income tax
Spearheading the juvenile delinquency forums

And now a Community Family Fun Day. Don’t we need more of these proactive events?

Cell Phone Tower Moratorium?!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:19 pm

Shepard writes

It is amazing the lengths that the elected officials of Bainbridge will go to keep the status quo. Constantly impairing any progress at a time when businesses are closing down and the local economy is struggling as much or more as the national economy. I understand that government plays a role in keeping the citizens of this community safe, but six months???

Doctoral thesis are researched and written in less time. And those other counties competing for industry in this area, by gosh we’ll show them the Bainbridge way of doing things! Take those lousy jobs and taxes! Decatur County is already more restrictive than surrounding counties, let’s restrict some more! The future’s so bright we’ve got to wear shades!

Elections?

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:55 am

hwhite writes

If there were ballots that were due by Friday how could such a close race of coroner be called on Thursday? I appreciate all of the volunteers and workers at the polls. I am just wondering after all the years of national elections and four years in between each one, how the system can still be so flawed. There is four years in between to tweak and there has been many years to solve problems that is still going on. How legitimate are the elections….really?

Go Bearcats!!

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 2:52 am

taximom writes

I hope the football team and coaches are proud of the game they played last night! I think they played a well-fought game. They ran, caught and passed the ball. They held TC back and would not let them advance. They were great! The ref’s calls are another matter. I don’t even want to get into that.

metlsmith writes

Ive noticed the wooden fishing pier at the park has been closed for some time.I thought it was closed in fear of flooding during our last big storm.I recently contacted the city because I used to fish from it on occasions. The kind lady at leisure services who took my call did not even know it was closed off!

West Bainbridge Rail road crossing..(again)

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 11:56 pm

metlsmith writes

We’ve discussed this one before.Last being said repairs were to be made a while back.I noticed barriers waiting beside the road to be put up(detour sign and all) and said hurray figuring it would not be too long now. Those barriers have since been removed and I have not heard one word why the work was not started.Thought maybe some of you might have heard something.I don’t mind slowing down. Its become second nature now.It still takes a toll on my vehicle and am rather tired of it.

Way to go Mandi O’Mara and the BHS cross country team. As of today both the boys and the girls are the region’s #1 team (like we didn’t consider them #1 anyway). Please pray for them as they make their way to the state championships next weekend in Atlanta. We are so proud of each and everyone of you. GO CATS!

On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 1:49 am

Sheep Dog writes

A long read but a good one
(From the book, On Combat, by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman)

“Honor never grows old, and honor rejoices the heart of age. It does so because honor is, finally, about defending those noble and worthy things that deserve defending, even if it comes at a high cost. In our time, that may mean social disapproval, public scorn, hardship, persecution, or as always, even death itself.
The question remains: What is worth defending? What is worth dying for? What is worth living for?”

- William J. Bennett
In a lecture to the United States Naval Academy

Cell Tower

Category: Decatur County Controversy — Larry @ 9:38 pm

mrsyolandawatts writes

Why is it everytime someone comes to this community to build it up, we have people with outrageous excuses to try and keep them out!!! A company like AT & T comes to bring a tower which will mean a better selection of cellular service and maybe even jobs in the future and I read about people with the sorriest excuses like their grandchildren getting exposed to somethin that can’t cause harm unless their grandchild is somehow at the top of the antenna.

BHS Band

Category: General Comments — Larry @ 12:18 am

I have been wondering something for a while now. Why is the BHS Band Color Guard ignored? I have looked at pictures of every football game and there are hardly any of them. I can count on one hand the number of pictures taken of them.
